July 13, 2017 Ivory May’s Lava
Apologies for the delay… life got in the way. They say the best things are worth waiting for, so hope this follows suit. Honestly, I think this is some of the most beautiful lava we’ve been privileged to capture lately… hope you enjoy it! International model Ivory May joined us as our Special Guest today. Ivory is yet another character who will be seen in our new “VolcanoScapes” series entitled “Hot Seat Hawaii!” Stay tuned for exciting well-known guests, engaging visits with interesting Big Island personalities… and of course, as always, the best Kilauea Volcano lava video anywhere! Coming soon! You never know who might show up in “the hot seat” next! The surface flow we’ve been tracking has made little progress beyond the bottom of the Pali. But the most extraordinary pahoehoe breakouts were found above and below the cliff… and we noted several skylights on the Pali itself. The Flyin’ Hawaiian, Paradise pilot Luka Dayton-Smith handled our MD500 like a sports car… helping us to capture the Goddess Pele up close! The 61G tube system remains very entrenched, feeding molten lava at the ocean entry at Kamokuna. Her bench there continues to grow steadily… with several cracks indicating a collapse in the offing… perhaps soon. Ivory joined Spanish Ducky, Leilani the Hula Girl, Bruce Omori and me on our superb overflight! Paradise Helicopters and pilot Luka… you guys rock!
